SEO and AI search for funded startups
Since 2019 I have worked inside Prairie startups, on marketing and much else besides. I know the moment after a grant or a seed round: a product worth finding, a small team, and no one whose job is search.
Why it matters after funding
New customers, partners and investors all look you up. Increasingly they ask an AI assistant which companies solve their problem. If your site is vague or hard to crawl, you are left out of that answer, however good the product.
What I do for startups
- Fix the technical basics on Webflow, Framer, WordPress or HubSpot so every page can be found.
- Rewrite your homepage and product pages around the problems customers search for, not internal jargon.
- Add structured data for your company, product and FAQs so search engines and AI tools describe you correctly.
- Build a FAQ that answers what buyers and investors ask first: pricing model, integrations, security, who it is for.
- Set up how you appear for searches in the markets you are expanding into.
Built for funded teams
Each engagement is a fixed fee with a written scope, milestones and itemized invoices, so it is easy to approve, budget and report on. Grant programs differ on what they cover, and many exclude SEO, so please confirm eligibility with your program officer. I am glad to provide whatever documentation they ask for.
Which engagement fits
Most startups choose the Site Rework before a launch or a raise. Growth suits teams that want new pages for each use case or market, written and published for them.

Questions
Can grant funding pay for this?
Sometimes, but often not. CanExport SMEs, for example, lists search engine optimization as ineligible, while some Alberta Innovates programs fund marketing strategy within larger projects. Check with your program officer first. I provide a written scope, a fixed quote and itemized invoices so the conversation is easy.
We are pre-revenue. Is this too early?
Not if you have a product page, a clear customer and people already searching for the problem you solve. Founders who fix their site before a launch or a raise are found more easily by customers, partners and investors who look them up.
Our site is on Webflow or Framer. Can you work in it?
Yes. Webflow, Framer, WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Shopify and HubSpot are all platforms I work in directly, so your team keeps full control and no developer is needed.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes. Startups often share roadmaps and launch dates during an engagement, and a mutual NDA is standard.
